The photographic series “Boys From Red Cloud, Nebraska” by Bruce Weber is an important point of departure for this collection. In these images twenties men’s suit tailoring with an oversized twist is presented against a background of rural isolation. Another point of departure were the simple yet striking iconographic portraits of Cocteau wearing his jacket back to front.
My approach to structure was influenced in two ways by the references above. Some garments are designed to be worn back to front or sit unconventionally on the male form. While other garments feature specialist detailing migrated from other apparel items.
These designs are born for the intellectual who wants to remain faithful to the real meaning of the concept of dandy. He is a retro man and a modern poet who just wants to be alone.
